20 metres of wildflower meadow | E-Gift
The UK has lost 97% of its wildflower meadows since the 1930s - that's over 30,000 sq km. Nearly 1,400 species of pollinators and other insects rely on plants in wildflower meadows for their survival. In June, one acre of UK wildflower meadows can contain over 2.3 million flowers producing around 6,700 tons of nectar sugar - enough to feed 621 billion bees per day. WWF is working with partners to create new flower and species-rich habitats within UK farmland. Together, we are creating new sites for wildflowers as well as enhancing the conservation and management of existing wildflower habitats.
